The Chair of POM went to Stuttgart for its second strategy tour

This year again, the Chair of POM left Zurich to gain some new impressions, make new contacts and discuss chair-relevant topics.

On a two-day trip from 10.-11.09., the Chair of POM carried on its young tradition of a Strategy Tour and went to Stuttgart. After a short train ride to the main station in Stuttgart, the chair met with some colleagues from the Department of Operations Management of the University of Stuttgart. In the afternoon, the chair moved on to the Campus Stuttgart-Vaihingen and visited the ARENA2036, a flexible factory that offers a research platform to dozens of companies. The first day ended with a mexican dinner and some social activity in an escape room, that of course every member of the chair managed to get out of.

The second day started with a discussion of different funding opportunities for our POM research team, covering various types of reserach and research stages. Each team member prepared some information on a different source of funding and presented it to the rest of the team. Finally, the strategy tour ended with its highlight: a visit to the Daimler factory in Sindelfingen. The chair visited the car body manufacturing of the Mercedes E-Class and the final assembly of the Mercedes S-Class.

During this time and also throughout the last two weeks, short-term visitor Araz Zirar from Loughborough University joined the team. The Chair of POM happily thanks Araz Zirar for the visit and looks forward to the future collaboration.
